In Adel, Cook High shut out Brooks County, 10-0, Wednesday in five innings.

For the Hornets, Chris Howell was 2-for-2 with a two-run homer and four RBI. Jonathan Mathis and Neal Jones were each 2-for-4, with Jones driving in a run. Winning pitcher Blake Mainor held Brooks to just two hits and struck out seven, and also drove in two runs for Cook.

Cook (5-6, 3-0 region) travels to Tift County today, then hosts Irwin County Friday.


In Folkston, Berrien High defeated Charlton County 7-4 Tuesday.

For the Rebels (9-5, 3-0), Calem Ray went 3-for-4, scored a run and drove in another one. Ray also pitched the final three innings, retiring all nine batters he faced, and struck out five.

Jonathan Braddy went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 3 RBI. Kyle Pitts went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Tyler Copeland was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Berrien hosts Bacon County Friday.


In Dasher, Taylor Ivey struck out 16 and did not allow a base runner for six innings as Terrell defeated Georgia Christian, 9-0, on Tuesday.

Walker Sloan ruined Ivey's perfect game with a single to right field in the seventh. That was the Generals' only hit.

Sloan started for GCS, going five innings, giving up just one earned run and striking out seven. Georgia Christian committed seven errors.

Georgia Christian hosts Valwood at 4 p.m. today in a non-region game.


in Valdosta, Southwest Georgia defeated Valwood, 7-1, in a GISA Region 3-AA game Tuesday. Jerod Rigoni was the losing pitcher for the Valiants (4-10 overall, 3-3 in region), allowing seven hits and three walks. He struck out nine and allowed four earned runs. He and Blake Evans had Valwood's hits.

Georgia Christian hosts Valwood at 4 p.m. today in a non-region game.


In Fitzgerald, Valdosta High's girls team improved to 11-2 with a 3-2 win over Fitzgerald. The boys lost, 3-2.

The Lady Wildcats got points from their top two singles players, Kristen Tullos (6-1, 6-3) and Priscilla Thomas (6-4, 6-2). The doubles team of Bonnie Parker and Lauren Bahnsen won 6-4, 6-2.

Fitzgerald's boys stayed unbeaten by winning at No. 2 doubles in a third-set tiebreaker. For Valdosta (5-7), Greg Tullos (6-1, 6-1) and Dylan Tullos (6-4, 7-5) won points.

Valdosta hosts Berrien today at McKey Park.


At Valwood, Valwood and Tiftarea split a pair of GISA Region 3-AA matches.

The Valwood boys won, 3-2. Points were won by Andrew Kelly, Andy Slater-Phillip Allen and Rick Coleman-Chet Selph.

Katelin Dennis won at No. 3 singles for Valwood, which lost to Tiftarea's girls, 4-1.

Valwood hosts Crisp Academy today.
