ADEL -- A full field of 176 golfers are scheduled to participate in the 34th Wilson B. Wilkes golf tournament this weekend at Circlestone Country Club.
Griffin's Michael Standard is the defending champion, shooting a 4-under 140, one shot ahead of Savannah's Scott Ferrell.
The event is full of activities at the course located between Adel and Nashville. A dinner is scheduled for Saturday, with lunches on both days of competition. Golf-related prizes are available to golfers in all 13 flights.
Head professional Bob Windom said golfers from eight states will participate.
The club had new owners take over in April, with work completed both on the course and the related club facilities.
"The Wilson B. Wilkes is going to allow us to showcase to area golfers all of the improvements made to the facilities," said John Scarboro, part of the new ownership group, in a press release.
