Berrien's boys finished second and Lowndes' girls finished third to be the top local finishers at the Bainbridge Invitational on Saturday.
Westover's boys and Tift County's girls came away with top team honors.
Westover scored 41 points, with Berrien second at 87. Bainbridge was third at 112, with Tift County edging Lowndes for fourth, 120-121.
Tift County won the girls race with 39 points, with Thomas County Central second with 77 points. Lowndes was third (139), just getting past Berrien (143).
Berrien's Demonessa Pyle won the girls race, completing the 3.1-mile course in 22:28. Keelie Allen (20th, 26:39) and Allison Harper (25th, 27:10) were Berrien's other top runners.
Berrien's boys had a 1-2 punch with Ryan Reeder (10th, 19:03) and Chris Gaither (11th, 19:04). Travis Franklin (18th, 19:41), Benjie West (23rd, 20:03) and Derrick Cook (25th, 20:16) also scored for the Rebels.
The Vikings were led by Brandon Wrinkle (fifth, 18:49) and Josh Abinal (eighth, 18:57). Also placing for Lowndes were Jesse McKinney, Ben Young, Zach Hurley and Matthew Tisdale.
Top finishers for Lowndes' girls were Sloan Blanton (17th, 26:06), Kristen Wolfe (26:37), Laura Kivi (27:09), Allison Lairsey (28:39), Brooke Barnes (30:48) and Devan Boruff (33:42).
In the middle school race, Berrien's Phillip Nutt won the 2.1-mile race in 11:26. Brendan Clayton (fifth, 12:35), T.J. Taylor (eighth, 13:01), Derrick Cooper (ninth, 13:02) and Darren Cooper (11th, 13:08) also placed. No team score was recorded.
Lowndes will run next Saturday at Westover. Berrien is at Bleckley County, also on Saturday.
Valwood hosted a meet Saturday at the Woods Farm north of Valdosta. The varsity boys finished first, with Marcus Keck winning individual honors. He ran the 3.1-mile course in 18:23.
Daniel Keck was third (19:23), followed by Stephen Keener (ninth, 20:49), Anson Swindle (11th, 21:05), David Keck (12th, 21:22), Ben Peeples (14th, 21:26) and Michael Bajalia (15th, 22:04).
Four ran in the varsity girls race. Jessica Marquardt was fourth (24:01), Alison Keener ninth (25:10), Mary Catherine Mackey 15th (27:32) and Billie Anderson 17th (28:09).
In the two-mile junior varsity boys race, Robbie Burnett finished third (14:05), William Bajalia fourth (14:18) and David Keener 1th (16:24).
Valwood will host the Region 3-AA meet on Monday, Oct. 13.
