BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Kevin Smith allowed just two hits over six innings, leading the Binghamton Rumble Ponies over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in a 2-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.

Kevin Smith (3-1) picked up the win after he struck out five and walked one.

Binghamton scored its runs when Barrett Barnes hit an RBI single in the first inning and Will Toffey hit a solo home run in the fifth.

Thomas Hatch (0-3) went six innings, allowing two runs and six hits while striking out five to take the hard-luck loss in the Eastern League game.

The Fisher Cats were held scoreless for the fifth time this season, while the Rumble Ponies' staff recorded their 13th shutout of the year.
