All four local Class AAAAA prep basketball teams advanced at the CNS/Reebok Holiday Hoopfest Friday at Thomasville High.

Both Lowndes High and both Valdosta High teams won their first-round games, and each will play in winners' bracket semifinal games beginning at 4 p.m. today.

Lowndes' boys (6-1) won their sixth-straight game with a 64-53 decision over Brooks County. Lowndes will play Thomas County Central, which defeated Macon Southwest, at 5:30 p.m. today.

Terrence Vinson and Jeremy Pittman each scored 14 points for Lowndes. Jarvis Broughton added 10 points.

Lowndes' girls (7-2) beat Pelham, 43-26, to advance to a semifinal game with Cairo at 4 p.m. today. Cairo defeated Sumter, S.C., 54-48 in overtime.

Currie Powers had 15 points, Krystle Thomas 12 for Lowndes. Lowndes defeated Cairo last Friday in the Winnersville Shootout in Valdosta, with Thomas making the game-winning shot.

Valdosta's boys (5-2) defeated Pelham, 44-36, to advance to today's 8:30 p.m. semifinal. Valdosta plays Friday night's Thomasville-Bainbridge winner.

Valdosta's girls (6-1) defeated Thomas County Central, 42-39. It will play Thomasville, a 63-39 winner over Bainbridge, at 7 p.m. today.
