If the Oregon shooter had killed each person with a baseball bat, Obama would have wanted to put new regulations on who can own a baseball bat and have them register each bat purchase in the U.S.? Makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it? Guns don’t kill people, crazy people kill people. Our best bet is to regulate the nuts!

I can’t believe what the Valdosta city water, sewer and engineers did to the homeowners on Wilkes Circle, off Parker Mathis Drive. The homeowners’ property values have hit rock bottom. They probably will never be able to sell because of the pump station in the middle of the street. Everyone needs to ride by and see this huge, ugly machine in the road. The homeowners should never have to pay any more property taxes. It may even affect the homes of the entire subdivision. None of the city officials will have this in their front yard. Do you call this Winnersville?

The phone book is not half as big as it used to be. Next year, would they be able to make the numbers larger? It is very hard to read this fine print.

I’m so proud to be a parent of a child at Lake Park Elementary School! The teachers and staff are always wonderful, and I know my child is being challenged through high expectations. The learning environment is beyond measure and the safety of my child is of utmost importance. Way to go, LPE!

I’d like to rave about the wonderful number of undocumented people we have here in our community. They are good contributors economically I’m sure, and soon will be full citizens of the country enjoying all the benefits freely given by our loving government. Perhaps while they’re all in one place marching, we could get their names and addresses in print.

For those of you who think public transportation is not needed in Valdosta, why do you try living on a working-class person’s salary in this town and paying rent, for a car at the same time and see if you still feel the same way?

Thumbs-up to the commission for denying Lester Road rezoning to residential subdivision. This low area is mainly suitable for farming, and is dangerous and noisy for families next to the railroad tracks.

I had a minor electrical problem and took our car to Brimmage Auto Repair. He identified  and corrected the problem within 15 minutes without charge. Many thanks, sir, from a senior citizen.
