I often thought how nice it would be if some entrepreneur would revamp Five-Points shopping center. I think it is great that the Council approved it. Maybe we could lure an Office Depot to come there and bring a office supply store to this side of town.

I want to thank both Judge Ellerbee and the administrative staff of VHS who have worked hard to get rid of the riff-raff and provide an atmosphere conducive to learning. Thanks again for all you do for our students and faculty.

To the person complaining about VSU students jaywalking: Do you stop for the students in the crosswalk? Do you talk on your cell phone while you are driving? If so, you are more of a danger than the kids crossing the street talking on their phones. The college pumps a lot of money into our local economy. If jaywalking is your big rant, you need to take off your blinders and pay attention to the real problems in our community.

I would like to commend the Greater Valdosta Planning Committee for the work they do. They are a pleasure to work with and really have the needs of this community at heart. It is nice to have unbiased people here in Lowndes County!

Congratulations to the Lowndes Vikings! You deserve it. We Viking parents support you. Keep it up!

I would like to rave about the people who keep the downtown area landscaped and clean. You do a great job. I love the plantings and especially Benny's Alley. Thank you for your hard work.

Why do some people think that liberals don't work or pay taxes? I work 40 hour weeks, don't make a huge sum of money, and I still pay my taxes. I don't need to be taught self-reliance or respect for the almighty God. I just believe if a government can spend $350 billion on weapons every year, they should be able to keep their citizens healthy and educated.

Let's see how long we can go with having only raves. Or start a new good news column. And yes, I believe in freedom of speech. It would just be refreshing to read about more positive things.

First a tsunami, then many deadly hurricanes, now a record earthquake and massive land slides in two different areas of the world ... yeah, I think Armageddon is near.

Wow, the Georgia Bridgemen looked great Friday night at the Winnersville game. I can't wait to see them in the Rose Bowl. Way to go, guys. Y'all make Valdosta and Lowndes County proud.
