A fun way to donate to the Greater Valdosta United Way comes on Nov. 5 when the Valdosta State University Blazers host the University of West Georgia Braves at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium. The United Way will receive a $3 donation toward its 2005-06 campaign goal of $1.25 million for each ticket sold.

Discounted general admission tickets may be purchased for $5 in advance from the Greater Valdosta United Way, Hildegard's or First State Bank. Tickets at the gate on game day cost $8.

Outside the stadium on game day, students from Valdosta City and Lowndes County schools will compete in collecting donations for the United Way. Also, America's Second Harvest of South Georgia will collect nonperishable food items.

The United Way needs your donations. Currently, the organization has only reached 21 percent of its campaign goal. The Nov. 5 game is a wonderful opportunity to experience Blazer football and to help the 28 agencies supported by the Greater Valdosta United Way.

Donations to the organization are accepted via payroll deduction -- either a single time or during each pay period -- a one-time pledge sent in by mail or charged on a credit card, or a request to be billed quarterly or annually.

The Greater Valdosta United Way is located at 106 S. Patterson St. and can be reached by calling (229) 242-2208.
