Employees of the South Health District are wearing something red with their jeans on Feb. 14, to increase awareness of heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women.

On Wear Red Day, employees donate $5 to the American Heart Association so they can wear red and jeans on a designated day.

Money raised will benefit research and education to help reduce the incidence of heart disease in women.

Wear Red Day is a component of Go Red for Women, the American Heart Association's national campaign to raise awareness of heart disease and encourage women to take charge of their health.
