Valdosta State University will host summer commencement ceremonies for some 570 graduates on Saturday, July 31, in its P.E. Complex at the corner of Baytree Road and Sustella Avenue.
The undergraduate ceremony is scheduled at 10 a.m., and all graduate degrees will be conferred at the 12:30 p.m. commencement.
Students are asked to wear academic regalia and dark shoes and accessories and should arrive one hour prior to the ceremony and proceed upstairs to the mezzanine.
Receptions will follow both ceremonies. Parking is available in the Sustella surface lot for faculty, staff, platform party and volunteers, while parents and guests can park in the surface lot and Oak Street parking deck. Handicapped parking can be found in the parking lot along the west side of the P.E. Complex. There is special seating reserved for persons with disabilities.
All guests are asked to arrive early and to refrain from saving seats, bringing air horns and shouting during the ceremony. Those attending graduation ceremonies are urged to avoid Baytree Road in an effort to decrease congestion in the area.
