VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University Music hosts several recitals and concerts during the next few days.

VSU Jazz Ensemble, 7:30 p.m. today, Whitehead Auditorium, VSU Fine Arts Building, corner of Oak and Brookwood. Admission: Free and open to the public. David Springfield, VSU Jazz Ensemble director, leads the group in several arrangements, including Kubis’ “When You’re Smiling,” Duke Ellington’s “Jack the Bear,” Springfield’s arrangement of Lauritsen’s “Silver Street,” Richards’ arrangement of Kaper’s “Invitation,” Brenzel’s “The Lost Art of Drumming,” Springfield’s arrangement of Ellington’s “Caravan.”

Daniel Lawrence’s student piano recital, 3 p.m. Saturday, Whitehead Auditorium, VSU Fine Arts Building, corner of Oak and Brookwood. Admission: Free and open to the public. Lawrence performs works by Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, Daniel Lawrence, Errol Garner, and Miles Davis. He will be accompanied by Teal Ewer, trumpet; Michael Walton, tenor saxophone; Jaron McCarr, trombone; Trent Harper, bass; Brandon McCrae, drums.

Faith-Anne Lee’s student violin recital, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Whitehead Auditorium, VSU Fine Arts Building, corner of Oak and Brookwood. Admission: Free and open to the public. Lee performs works by Georg Phillip Telemann, Tommaso Vitali, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms. She will be accompanied by Nina Lutz, Valerie Holton, piano.

The VSU Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, 3 p.m. Sunday, Whitehead Auditorium, VSU Fine Arts Building, corner of Oak and Brookwood. Admission: Free and open to the public.

University of South Carolina School of Music Faculty Guest Recital, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Whitehead Auditorium, VSU Fine Arts Building, corner of Oak and Brookwood. Admission: Free and open to the public. This recital features Constance Gee, viola; Jennifer Parker-Harley, flute; Lynn Kompass, piano. They will be performing works by composers Reginald Bain, Carl Nielsen, Katherine Hoover, Edison Denisov, Maurice Durufle. Master classes will be held 10 a.m. Monday for voice, string and flute students. Sponsored by the string, voice and wind divisions of the VSU Department of Music.
