Valdosta State's basketball teams take their quest to make the Gulf South post-season tournament on the road today.
The Blazers (17-6) and Lady Blazers (13-10) play in Pensacola, Fla., today against West Florida. The men's game begins at 3:30 p.m. (Eastern), with the women to follow. (Radio: WVGA-FM 105.9)
The Blazers (6-5) and Argonauts (6-6) trail West Georgia (7-5) and Lincoln Memorial (7-5) for the fourth and last East Division spot for the conference tournament, set for March 7-9 in Tupelo, Miss.
West Georgia hosts West Alabama (3-9) tonight. while Lincoln Memorial hosts league-leading Alabama-Huntsville (9-2) tonight.
The Lady Blazers (8-5) are one-half game ahead of West Florida and West Georgia (both 8-6) for the fourth and last East Division spot for the conference tournament, set for March 6-9 in Tupelo, Miss.
VSU is also one-half game behind third-place North Alabama (9-5), which goes to the Columbus, Miss., area to play MUW (2-1) in the Blues' last home basketball game. The school is discontinuing athletics after this school year.
The two East women's leaders, Alabama-Huntsville (10-4) and Lincoln Memorial (10-4) meet in Harrogate, Tenn., tonight.
From Pensacola, VSU goes to Livingston, Ala., to play West Alabama Monday night. VSU and West Georgia finish the season next Saturday afternoon in The Complex.
