VALDOSTA -- Police charged a Valdosta man in a string of car break-ins that occurred between November and March.
Andy Richardson, 23, is charged with 24 counts of entering an automobile to commit theft, one count of theft by receiving stolen property and 11 counts of financial transaction card fraud.
Last Thursday, officers served a search warrant at his residence, said Capt. Brian Childress, Valdosta Police Department's public information officer. "We had developed information he was involved in a string of car break-ins."
Richardson was charged Thursday with theft by receiving stolen property and two counts of entering an automobile to commit theft. Other evidence gathered led to more charges against Richardson, Childress said.
The car break-ins were reported at the YMCA, the U.S. Post Office on Inner Perimeter, the movie theater on Baytree Road and several churches.
Childress said the Police Department's investigators worked long hours collecting evidence in case. "We're proud of the hard work of the Detective Bureau in this case. We also thank the Probation Office for their assistance."
