VALDOSTA — Two employees of Valdosta State Prison have been indicted by the Lowndes County Grand Jury in separate incidents, according to official records.
Scotty Maleek Butler was indicted on one count each of furnishing prohibited items to inmates and violation of oath by public officer, according to the grand jury indictment list issued Aug. 1.
On Nov. 17, a canine alerted on his vehicle during a routine check, and a search found contraband material, said Gwendolyn Hogan, a spokesman for the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Tisha Dawn Adams, a.k.a. Tisha D. Hudson, was indicted on one charge of violation of oath by public officer and three counts of furnishing prohibited items to inmates, according to the grand jury list.
Adams was arrested in May 2015, Hogan said. She said the corrections department would not release details of the incident.
Another Valdosta State Prison employee was indicted in September 2015 by a federal grand jury.
Anekra Artina Williams, 20, of Nashville, Ga., a guard at the prison, was charged with one count of conspiring to distribute at least 50 grams of methamphetamine, one count of distributing methamphetamine and one count of conspiring to interfere with commerce by extortion, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Atlanta office. She allegedly smuggled drugs, tobacco and other goods wanted by inmates in exchange for bribes and packaged the material so other guards wouldn't detect it, the FBI said.
