VALDOSTA — Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday, the third residential robbery in Valdosta this week.
Around 12:10 a.m., officers were flagged down and told of a robbery that had taken place in an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Baytree Road, according to a Valdosta Police Department statement.
The robbery had taken place hours earlier, the report states. The complainants said they were robbed at gunpoint by known persons. A police report said an iPhone XR that was valued at $1,500 was among the property taken.
No injuries were reported, the statement said.
Police have already dealt with two other violent home robberies in recent days.
On Saturday, a home invasion in the 2100 block of Michael Terrace resulted in a shooting. Two men forced their way in, one of them armed; when one of the residents struggled with the armed invader the gun went off, hitting the resident, police said.
The shooting victim was taken to South Georgia Medical Center and is in good condition, a police statement said. Police said they believe drug sales were going on in the home and the residents were uncooperative.
Sunday, at 2 p.m., police responded an incident in the 700 block of Donald Avenue. A man reported that two people known to him entered his home and assaulted him, one using a brick, a police statement said.
Andrita James, 33, of Valdosta was charged with aggravated assault (non-family member) and other weapon and burglary non-forced entry to a residence charges. A 16-year-old juvenile was charged with battery, according to police reports.
Police said there is no evidence Wednesday's robbery was related to the two earlier incidents.
