VALDOSTA -- Police are looking for two men who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint Thursday morning.

Two men armed with handguns went into MS Food Mart, 1000 E. Park Ave., at 8:58 a.m. and demanded an undisclosed amount of money from the clerk working, said Capt. Brian Childress, public information officer for the VPD.

Childress said the robbers were going to lock the clerk inside a walk-in freezer in the store, but they decided not to.

The robbers escaped through a wooded area in back of the store.

Childress said the clerk was not injured, and there were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery.

No one has been charged in conjunction with the robbery, but Childress said police should find the robbers soon.

"Based on evidence we have from the scene, we're confident that we'll make an arrest," he said.

Childress said one of the robbers left his face visible during the robbery.

VPD would not release information about any other evidence that was found at the crime scene.

Anyone with information regarding the armed robbery may call the VPD crime tip line at 293-3091.
