The Valdosta Main Street Program will host Springtime in Mack's Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20.
This event is a celebration of the arts and culture downtown and is dedicated to the memory of Mack Freeman, a longtime merchant who contributed to the revitalization of downtown Valdosta.
The event includes the public painting on a canvas, the building of a community flower arrangement through a flower exchange, a discussion of the new trends downtown, live instrumental music and a sampling of foods from downtown restaurants. This year, the event will also feature an unveiling ceremony for the design of a mural, which will be painted on the Mack's Park wall by Sarah Lippincott, a VSU art student, later this summer.
Mack's Park is located at the east end of Bennie's Alley. For information, call the Main Street office at 259-3577.
