VALDOSTA — A Lowndes County Sheriff's Office cruiser collided with a City of Valdosta garbage truck, according to authorities.

The accident took place at 5:15 a.m. Friday, said Ashlyn Becton, public information officer for the city.

There were no serious injuries, Sheriff Ashley Paulk said.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident, Becton said.

The accident was at the intersection of Force and Ashley streets, Paulk said.

Paulk said the sheriff's cruiser was heading north on Ashley Street when the garbage truck pulled off Force Street onto Ashley in front of the car, which tried to avoid the collision but hit the back of the truck.

"The car was totaled," the sheriff said.
