VALDOSTA — A Jeep Wrangler veered into the traffic of an oncoming school bus Tuesday morning, authorities said, leaving the driver of the Wrangler injured.
The accident happened on Boring Pond Road at 7 a.m., and Georgia State Patrol showed up at the scene almost 30 minutes later.
The school bus had the bus driver and her 8-year-old daughter in it on its way to pick up children for school when the Jeep drove into the wrong lane and crashed into the bus, according to GSP.
“The Jeep traveled into the bus’ lane, the driver of the Jeep was transported by EMS for injuries to her hip,” said Georgia State Patrol senior trooper J.W. Kensey. “Both vehicles had extensive damage, and both had to be towed.”
The bus driver complained of back pain, and her daughter said she felt pain in her knee, Kensey said.
The driver of the Jeep was charged for failure to maintain lane. There was a lot of debris in the road after the accident, Kensey said, but it has since been cleaned up.
