VALDOSTA – Libby Peters, school nutrition program trainer, was honored by the Lowndes County Board of Education at their March meeting. Peters received the GREAT Award for outstanding school nutrition employee.

Peters has worked for Lowndes County Schools since 1998. She started as a nutrition assistant at Moulton-Branch Elementary and then became the manager after only one year there. She has also worked as the nutrition manager at Lake Park Elementary and Lowndes High School were she was responsible for a large staff, eight lines and served 1,400 to 1,700 meals per day. In 2005, Peters became the SNP trainer working with all 10 school nutrition programs in the system.

“I was really excited when I found out I received the award,” Peters said. “It is truly an honor to represent school nutrition.”

Peters said her favorite part of working in the Lowndes County School system is having the opportunity to work with all schools and devise solutions for problems that may arise. “It makes me feel good when people are so thankful to discover easier more sensible methods of doing their jobs,” Peters said.

To commemorate this recognition, Peters received a framed certificate from the Board and a gift card from Texas Roadhouse.
