Carla Devonne Payton recently completed studies required to graduate from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon. The commencement services were held on May 12 at the Macon City Auditorium.

Payton was involved in Phi Alpha Delta International Legal Fraternity, Association of Women Law Students, Mercer University Legal Writing Certificate of which she successfully completed the course, and was awarded the certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting, National Bar Association Professional Liaison, Mercer Tax Law Society, Christian Legal Society, International Law Society, American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Mercer Legal Aid Clinic, Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, Mercer Association of Prosecutors.

Payton pursued her master of public administration from Valdosta State University; B.A. Criminal Justice, Minor in Communications, Mercer University, where she was inducted in the Order of Omega Greek National Honor Society, Mercer University Student Advisory Board; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. President and Chair of Program/Planning and Development; Pan Hellenic Council Recruitment Counselor; Students in Free Enterprise, Treasurer; New Student Orientation Assistant. She was also an honor graduate from Valdosta High School.
