James Aubrey Bennett

HAHIRA -- James Aubrey Bennett, 80, of Hahira died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Holly Hill Nursing Home. He was born in Cook County on Nov. 4, 1921, to the late James Arthur and Reba Bell Sanders Bennett and had lived in Cook County all of his life. Mr. Bennett was a retired carpenter. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, James A. and Jeanne Bennett of Jacksonville, Fla., Lindell and Donna Bennett of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Richard and Melanie Bennett of Perry, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; six step children including Clay and his wife, Rose Smith of Valdosta; several step grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Smith of Brooksville, Fla. and Verma Myers of Interlachen, Fla. He was preceded in death by is wives, Irene Bennett and Corene Bennett; three sisters, Vallie Belle McNeal, Thena Bennett and Lagrand Crebs. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, in Longbridge Cemetery in Berrien County with the Rev. Ted Rushing officiating. Paulette Field

VALDOSTA -- Paulette Field, 82, of Valdosta died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Madison County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Reims, France and had lived in Valdosta since 1980. Mrs. Field was of the Catholic faith and had served as a pink lady at South Georgia Medical Center. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Monique and Jim Sineath of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Patricia Field of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, John Sineath, Brannen Sineath, Troy and Diana Field, Chad and Jeana Field and Jennifer Field; and five great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judson R. Field. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today in Sunset Hill Cemetery with Father Ernest Sylvester officiating. -- Carson McLane Funeral Home



Bernice McKinney

LAKE PARK -- Mrs. Bernice "Bunny" Roberson McKinney, 77, died at her residence on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, after an extended illness. Mrs. McKinney was one of 10 children born to the late A.C. and Maggie Emma Green Roberson here in Valdosta. She was a homemaker and attended the Lake Park Christian Church. Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Clayton Johnson of Moultrie; one brother, Eugene T. Roberson of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews, Tim Clower, Jack Clower, and John Clower, all of Douglasville, Patricia Ann Carroll Smith and Dodie R. Powers both of Valdosta, Cynthia Ann Smith of Moultrie, Ashley Clayton Johnson III of Atlanta, Daniel Roberson of San Diego, Calif., Linda Kay Kennedy of Lake Park, Richard Harry Franklin of Quitman, Howard Charles Franklin of Lake Park, Diane Roberson and Andrew C. Roberson II, both of Lexington, Ky.; and her caregiver Judy Davis. Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her son, Arthur Watson Wade, Jr. Services for Bernice "Bunny" Roberson McKinney will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug., 14, 2002, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Dorothy J. Parker

VALDOSTA -- Dorothy J. Parker, 55, of Valdosta passed away early Saturday morning, Aug. 10, 2002, at her residence, 3208 Triple Lake Road, after a lengthy illness. She was a member of the New Hope Full Gospel Church, of which her husband was the pastor. Her parents, Asa and Gladys Casteen, two sisters, Martha Lee Johnston and Mary Ellen Chase, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Dr. Jerry D. Parker of Valdosta; one daughter and son-in-law, Mishelle and Greg Guess of Valdosta; three sons and daughters-in-law, Troy D. and Susie Hardy of Phenix City, Ala., Ferron L. Hardy of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jonathan and April Hardy of Valdosta; seven stepchildren, Jerry D. Parker Jr., Colleen Parker, Sherrie Parker, Angie Tr

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in the Lake Park Cemetery. Wilbur Dekle Rountree

VALDOSTA -- Wilbur Dekle Rountree, 92, of Valdosta, died on Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, after a short illness. Born on Feb. 3, 1910, in Adrian, Ga., he was the son of the late Hattie Rogers and Alonzo Manning Rountree. Mr. Rountree was an industrial engineer with various textile mills. A Deacon and Elder of several Presbyterian Churches, he was presently a member of First United Methodist where he was active with the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class. Mr. Rountree was a member of the Valdosta Rotary Club and The Twelve Old Men's Club. Survivors are his wife, Jeanne Redwine Davis Rountree of Valdosta; daughter, Martha Rountree Strait of Villa Rica; sons, W. Dekle, Jr. and Donna J. Rountree of Bluffton, S.C., Roger Reagan Rountree of Ashville, N.C.; step daughter, Jane Hunter and Jack Bennett of Valdosta; eight grandchildren, Jodie J. Segafredo, Elizabeth H. Rountree, Gregory Strait, Douglas Strait, Lucy E. Rountree, Jessica Bennett, Parks Bennett, Jason Bennett; three great- grandchildren; sister, Lottie R. Aaron of Lyons. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Redwine Rountree and a son, Parks Redwine Rountree. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Charles P. Adams officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville, Ga. Ms. Kimberly Mae Miller, 23 of Macon died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, as a result from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Arrangements for Ms. Miller are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Carson McLane Funeral Home.
