Edith W. Barber

ORANGE, Texas -- Edith W. Barber, 84, of Orange, died on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at a local nursing home. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at the Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will also be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at Carson McLane Funeral. Burial will follow in Dasher Cemetery in Dasher. Mrs. Barber was born to the late Christian Flirl and Ella Wisenbaker on Jan. 26, 1917, in Dasher. Mrs. Barber was a lifelong resident of Georgia until 1998 when she moved to Orange. Mrs. Barber worked at Rhodes Furniture Company as a bookkeeper for 32 years retiring at the age of 70. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Valdosta and a lifelong member of the Woodman's of the World where she served as treasurer for many years. She also was a volunteer at South Georgia Medial Center for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Mr. Frank Barber. Pallbearers will be James Hastings, Van Hastings, Robbie Hastings, Jonathan Hastings, Leighton Saddler and Bob Drake. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Jim Hasty of Orange; three stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Eston and Carolyn Barber of Hahira, Clyde and Wanda Barber of Greencove Springs, Fla., and Merle Barber of Hahira. -- Claybar Funeral Home, Orange



Mary Ann Redding

NASHVILLE -- Mary Ann Redding, 56, of Nashville, died on died on Dec. 18, 2001, at her residence. She was born on Nov. 25, 1945, in Lowndes County to Luther Charles and Iva Nell Loveless Lewis. Mrs. Redding was a homemaker and member of Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Iva Christine Dukes. She is survived by her spouse, Franklin Redding of Nashville; one daughter, Sandra Kent of Nashville; two sons, Luther Dukes of Moultrie, Lee Redding of Ray City; four grandchildren; mother, Iva Nell Lewis of Hahira; maternal grandmother, Jewell Loveless of Nashville; one sister, Janelle Moore of Hahira and one brother, Dan Lewis of Hahira. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. -- Lovein Funeral Home



Rubie Myers of Valdosta died on Dec. 19, 2001, at Presbyterian Homes of Quitman. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Purvis Funeral Home of Adel.
