Ward Morgan 'Mrs. Willard' Dukes

QUITMAN -- Ward Morgan "Mrs. Willard" Dukes, 86, of Quitman, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Brooks County, she was the daughter of William Lemuel and Susan Elizabeth Emerson Morgan. She was a homemaker, a member of the Brooks County Homemakers Club, and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Betty (Bryan) Price of Pensacola, Fla., Virginia (George) Cobb of FonDulac, Wis., Jerri Dukes of Quitman; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Frank Dukes. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in the Maxwell-Miller Chapel with the Rev. Willard Griffis officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today. -- Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home



Thelma Joiner Gibbs

VALDOSTA -- Thelma Joiner Gibbs, 76, of Wildwood Road, Zebulon, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at Spalding Regional Hospital. She was a member of Forrest Street Church of God in Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Walker Gibbs Jr., and son, Jerry Gibbs. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Grace and John Hadden, Lakeland, Fla., Alice and Dwaine Pearson, Zebulon, and Margaret and Ernie Hilton, Loganville; grandchildren, Steve Hadden, California, Kenny and Jill Hadden, Orlando, Fla., Robin and Tim Gurganious, North Carolina, Kimberly Pearson, Zebulon, Kevin and Meagan Pearson, Zebulon, Cheryl Hilton and Jennifer Hilton, Americus; sisters, Florence Lovett, Adel, Ella Heath and Irene Crane, Macon, Ruth Vickers, Gray; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18 in the chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Jimmy E. Griner Sr.

ADEL -- Jimmy E. Griner Sr., 49, Rt. 3, Adel, died Sept. 15, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. The funeral is at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at Brushy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary James officiating. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, 202 N. Hutchinson Ave., Adel. Mr. Griner was born Sept. 13, 1953, in Jeff Davis County to George E. Griner, who preceded him in death, and Mrs. Beatrice Hall Wimberley of Nashville, who survives. He lived most of his life in Cook County. He was of the Church of God faith and was a retired truck driver. Survivors are sons, Jimmy "J.J." E. HAHIRA -- Mary L. Moye, 67, of Hahira, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 15, 2002, at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born in Jasper, Fla., and had lived in Hahira for the past year and a half. She was of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ethel Musselwhite Nobles, and her brother, Raymond Nobles Jr. Survivors include her husband, Earl Moye of Hahira; two sons, Earle Duane Moye and Anthony Wayne Moye, both of Hahira; three daughters, Mary Joyce Moye of Middleburg, Fla., Deborah Moye Allison, Alexia Kay Moye, both of Hahira; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, W.H. Nobles, St. Stephans, S.C., Joe Nobles, Hahira; four sisters, Gloria Hisaw and Elizabeth Goff, both of Valdosta, Lois Jordan, Zepher Hills, Fla., Merrie Zipperer of Dasher; and a number of nieces and nephews. VALDOSTA -- Wanda M. Tomlinson, 75, of Valdosta, passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 15, 2002, at her residence. She was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and had lived in Valdosta for most of her life. She was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reva Tomlinson, and three sons, Michael Spitzer, Tom Wall and Ernie Spitzer. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Wesley McCallum, Valdosta; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County. Mary Kent of Lakeland passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at the Louis Smith Memorial Hospital in Lakeland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Empire Cemetery in Lanier County. Music Funeral Services of Lakeland will be serving the Kent family.



Lisa Taylor Muniz

Lisa Taylor Muniz of Alma passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at the Bacon County Hospital suddenly. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Lakeland Church of God with burial in North Cemetery in Dupont. Family will receive friends at the funeral home today between 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Muniz will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service.
