ALAPAHA -- Ethell McGee, 77, of Alapaha died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at the Berrien County Hospital. Born on Oct. 31, 1925, in Berrien County to Mathew Jackson King and Dona Arnold, she was a retired inspector operator from Nashville Mills and a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. She is the widow of Willie B. McGee, who died in 1985. Survivors include three sons, Willie B. "Junior" McGee of Alapaha, Wayne McGee of Nashville, and Wesley McGee of Alapaha; four grandchildren, Chad McGee, Robbie Boyette, Chasta Stewart, and Jessica McGee; and two great-grandchildren, Cole Stewart and Carley Stewart. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Flat Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey, the Rev. Gary James, and the Rev. Phillip Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Visitation is today after 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. -- Lovein Funeral Home, Inc., a member by invitation of selected independent funeral homes.
Alexander Wilton Skoropat
VALDOSTA -- Alexander Wilton Skoropat, 87, of Valdosta, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002. Born and grew up in Wilton, N.D., to the late Phillip and Natalia Skoropat, Mr. Skoropat has lived in Valdosta since 1940. He retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel, was retired from Langdale Company as Executive vice president and general manager, was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, was a former member of the Elks Club, the Valdosta Country Club, and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mr. Skoropat is survived by his wife, Florine Rykard Skoropat of Valdosta; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Philip and Marsha Skoropat of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Harry and Sandi Skoropat of Valdosta, and Alex Skoropat of Kissimmee, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Ron Holland of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Stephen Skoropat, Laura and Keith Reynolds, Rebecca Skoropat, and Katie and Amanda Holland; and one sister, Madge Hamlin of Flint, Mich. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Skoropat, and sisters Ann Kassion and Alice Staihar. A funeral mass will be held for Mr. Skoropat at 11 a.m Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Father John O'Brien will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at St. John Catholic Church with visitation to follow until 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. John Catholic Church Building Fund. -- Carson McLane Funeral Home.
Nettie Adkins, 92, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Paul AME Church. Rev. Richard Yancey will officiate. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery. -- Stevens Funeral Home, Inc.
