Gail K. Folsom

Gail K. Folsom, 56, of Hahira, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at her home. She was born on July 5, 1945, in Berrien County to the late L.A. and Pauline Simons Kent and had lived in Lowndes County for many years. Mrs. Folsom had been a branch manager for Electrolux and was a Baptist. Survivors include her husband, Raymond J. Folsom of Hahira; her children, Angie Massey of Pensacola, Fla., Jack Guest of Brinson, Jennifer Guest of of Valdosta, Joel Guest, Gail Fleming, Carol Stracener, all of Hahira and Kevin Folsom of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Josh, Brandi, B.J., Karlee Gail, Christi, Jennifer, Blake, Emily, Jordan, Casey, Amber and Austin; two great grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, Elva Shaw, Wendell Kent, Gene Kent, all of Nashville and Shirley McCoy, of Rincon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Merwin and Rev. John Hendley officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Theo Jenkins Foy

Theo Jenkins Foy, 84, of Valdosta, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2002, after a long illness at Madison Nursing Home in Madison, Fla. Foy was a native of Suwannee County, Fla. She was also a homemaker and a matron of the Lowndes County Jail in Valdosta for 13 years and a member of Mt. Giliad Baptist Church in Live Oak, Fla. Foy is survived by husband Penman Foy Sr. of Valdosta; one daughter, Edna Hackle of Valdosta; one son, Penman "Sonny" Foy, Jr. of Valdosta; a son-in-law, Johnny McKenzie of Valdosta; one sister, Hazel Booker of Furitland, Fla; two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean McKenzie. Ora Scott NeSmith

Ora Scott NeSmith, 83, of Quitman, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at her residence following a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Brooks County, she was the daughter of James Virgil and Nettie Ophelia Fagan Scott. She was a homemaker, retired family grocer and a member of Northside Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Essie Lee Guess of Dixie; two grandsons, Marion Lamar Guess and Michael Lee Guess, both of Dixie; two stepsons, Wilis B. NeSmith of Albany and Edward M. NeSmith of Santa Rosa, Calif.; several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday in the Maxwell-Miller Chapel with the Rev. Ben Diamico officiating. Irby Royal

Irby Royal, 83, of Lake Wales, Fla., died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Lake Wales Medical Center. Born in Cook County on July 5, 1918, Royals was a retired citrus packer and a member of the Golfview Park Church of God, where she served as a Sunday school class secretary and participated in many other church activities. She also enjoyed fishing and was a mother to many. She'd moved to Lake Wales from Vero Beach 30 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Royals, who died in 1959. Survivors include two daughters, Jean Woody of Lake Wales, Fla., Janice Colvin of Madison, Fla.; three sons, Julian R. Royals of Valdosta, Quinton R. Royals of Vero Beach, Fla., Mack Royals of Lake Wales, Fla.; one sister, Belle Collins of Macon; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-granchildren; and a longtime companion, Woodroe Windsor of Lake Wales, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Golfview Park Church of God with the Rev. Denny Cothern officiating.
