Cheryl Butler

VALDOSTA -- Cheryl Butler, 41, of Valdosta, was born Feb. 6, 1961, and died on Aug. 14, 2002, at her home after a lengthy illness. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Winnie E. Williams, and a sister, Hannah Mae Butler. She was a member of Right Way Ministries Church, Elder Joe Jenkins, pastor. She attended Valdosta City Schools. On Aug. 14, 2002, God called Cheryl home to meet her Saviour, leaving to mourn two daughters, Lakesha Butler (Joe) and Latoya Butler (Marcus); two sons, Sherman Butler and Willie Berrien; two grandchildren, Darius Butler and Janya McKinnon; four sisters, Janice (Tony) Hewitt, Lucinda Williams and Joe Ann Williams, all of Valdosta, and Viola Williams of Tifton; one brother, Joseph Williams (Brenda) of Dixie; two uncles, Homer Butler (Mary) of Lakeland, Fla., and James Butler of Valdosta; great uncles and aunts, Brother Lewis Jones (Fannie), Bishop Clarence Wells (Marian), Iona Wright, all of Valdosta, and Bishop Willie Lee Green (Charlie Mae) of Atlanta; special thanks to Aunt Fannie who was very supportive of Cheryl during her time of illness; special friends, Bernard Jones, Josie Hirsch, Latonya Williams, Beulah Smith and Mary Riley; also a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Prayer Temple Holiness Church. Bishop Clarence Wells will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. -- Stevens Funeral Home



Pearl Wynn Howell

JENNINGS, Fla. -- Pearl Wynn Howell, 81, of Jennings, passed away Aug. 20, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Pearl was born in Hamilton County, Fla., on Feb. 26, 1921, to the late W. Jackson and Nona Wynn. She was a homemaker and member of New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Dorian Howell, Jennings; one son, Harrell Howell (Evelyn), Enterprise, Ala.; daughter, Carol Howell Rowe (Bryan), daughter-in-law, Marilyn Howell, all of Jennings; three sisters, Mabel Howard and Hazel Waters, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mildred Smith, Jennings; four grandchildren, Corey Wade Howell, Victoria Lynne Howell, Daniel Dorian Howell and Victor Harrell Howell; one great-grandson, Anthony Scott Howell. She was preceded in death by a son, Victor Wade Howell in March 2002. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23 at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Macy Long Jackson Hunter

VALDOSTA -- Macy Long Jackson Hunter, 72, who resided at 401 W. Gordon St., passed away Aug. 16, 2002, at Lakehaven Nursing Home. Mrs. Hunter was born March 26, 1930, in Boston, Ga., to the late Eddie Mae Jackson. She was reared by her grandmother, Millie Williams Jackson, and a very special uncle, David Jackson Sr., who preceded her in death. Macy moved to Lowndes County, Valdosta, at an early age. She was educated by the Valdosta school system. Macy met and married Wilroe Hunter. She joined St. Peter AME Church at an early age. Macy leaves to mourn in her passing two daughters, Gwynette Hunter, Blackshear, and Althea Jones, Nicholls; two sons, Harold Hunter (Tammy), Tifton, and Greggory Hunter, Blackshear; one aunt, Minnie Jackson, Valdosta; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a very special cousin, David Jackson Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Alvin Carter is pastor and will officiate. Bobby Lamar McMillan

JASPER, Fla. -- Bobby Lamar McMillan, 65, of Jasper, passed away on Aug. 21, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. Bobby was born in Berrien County. He was a former police officer in Hahira and Nashville and was also employed by House of Ronnie in Nashville and was manager of their Jasper location, Jasper Textile for over 20 years. He





was currently employed by Hamilton County Road Dept. and was a member of Jasper First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Betty Sue McMillan; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Jake Adams and granddaughter, Callie Adams, all of Jennings; four brothers, Jimmy McMillan, Nashville, Johnny and Robert McMillan, both of Cayce, S.C., and Ricky McMillan, Adel; one sister, Ann Webb, Nashville; father and mother-in-law, Howard and Ethel Vickers, Nashville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24 at Jasper First Baptist Church. A viewing will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Vickers Church with a graveside committal at 2 p.m. in the church cemetery. Dustin "Dusty" Chauncey, 18, of Valdosta, formally of Interlachen, Fla., passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 15, 2002 after injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born in Putnam County, Fla., and had lived in Valdosta for the past month. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23 at the First Assembly of God in Palatka, Fla. -- Music Funeral Services of Valdosta



Olan Demps, 57, originally of Quitman, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at his residence in Miami, Fla. Mr. Demps was the older brother of Jim McGhee Sr. of Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home of Quitman. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home.



Ida Lee Robinson, 50, of Quitman, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at the Holly Hill Nursing Home in Valdosta. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home.
