Eula Lee Brown

VALDOSTA -- Eula Lee Brown, 86, lifetime resident of Valdosta, died on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Hubert F. and Annie Mae Coody Folsom, she was a homemaker and a member of Grace Community Church and Woodman of the World. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Mack and Evelyn Shiver of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Melvin Houston of LaGrange; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a son, Eddie E. Shiver. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Sunset Hill Cemetery with Bro. Ted Sauls officiating. Corine Hart Griffin

VALDOSTA -- Corine Hart Griffin, 101, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Holly Hill Nursing Home. Mrs. Griffin was born on June 5, 1900, in Lowndes County to the late Savannah Epps Hart and the late Ezekiel Hart. She was married to the late Silas Griffin. She was educated in the Lowndes County Public School System. She was a loyal and faithful member of Second Oak Grove Baptist Church where she served as superintendent of Sunday School and held many other offices for many years. She leaves to lament her homegoing two children, a daughter, Odessa G. Denton; and one son, Silas H. Griffin Jr. of Valdosta; three sisters, Doretha Woods and Artie B. Scriven of Valdosta and Lenora Henderson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 39 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lula Hart of Valdosta and Marie Hart of Madison, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Eulie Woods of Valdosta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Corine Matchett and Lillie Mae Fillmore, five brothers, five sisters, three granddaughters, two grandsons, one great-granddaughter and two great-grandsons. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Second Oak Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Joe Hickey is the pastor and the Rev. Bobby Hart will officiate. Burial will be held in Forrest Grove Cemetery in Clyattville. Monteen S. Moore

MADISON, FLA. -- Monteen S. Moore, 84, of Madison, died on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, in Madison. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Madison. Burial will be held in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Madison. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel, Madison. Memorial donations may be made to The Building Fund of First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 294, Madison, Fla. 32340 or to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Fla. 32308-5428. Mrs. Moore was born on Oct. 17, 1917 in Brooks County in the community of Shore. She was the youngest child of Frank and Mary Gilbert Shore. She lived in Quitman until she and Simmie Moore were married in 1934, at which time she moved to Madison. Mrs. Moore retired from the Madison County Sheriff's Department in 1972. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Madison where she directed weddings for many years. She was a member of the Madison United Methodist Women, The Madison Garden Club and the Madison Women's Club. Mrs. Moore was a caring, generous lady who had great love for her family and compassion for those who needed her help. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Monteen "Tennie" Moore and Bill Cave of Madison, and Marion "Sunny" Moore and Buck Roberts of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Paula S. VALDOSTA -- Annie Elizabeth Roark, 61, a Valdosta resident for 32 year





s, died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Lake Haven Nursing Home. Born on Feb. 19, 1940, in Madison, Fla., daughter of the late J.N. and Lillian Mae Ellison Tuten, she had worked with convenience stores and was a Baptist. Survivors are her daughters, Doris Brookshire of Douglasville, Melissa Burk of Valdosta, Yvonne Cooper of Greenville, Tenn., Teresa Roark of Valdosta, Dorothy Acuna of Augusta; a son, Jerry Roark of Valdosta; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, James Tuten of Monticello, Fla., Cecil Wright of Live Oak, Fla.; sisters, Willie Mae Eakins of Lake City, Fla., Catherine Osborne of Jacksonville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. ATLANTA, Texas -- William E. Sizer, 94, of Atlanta, Texas and former resident of Suwannee County, Fla., passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Atlanta Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Texas. Mr. Sizer was a retired farmer, member of Orange Baptist Church in Suwannee County and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jeanette B. Thomas

VALDOSTA -- Jeanette B. Thomas, 63, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on March 29, 1938, in Climax to Christina Smith and the late Henry Smith Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Smith Jr. and sister, Betty Brinson. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, John Thomas; one son, Earl Thomas (Gerone); two daughters, Velma McClain (N.L.) and Loretta Battle; her mother, Christina Smith; one sister-in-law, Carrie Mae Huston; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; special niece, Chiffon Browne; two friends, Jimmie Harrison, Ceasar Battle, Getharo Flucas Jr., all of Valdosta.
