Mary Skinner Hancock Gray

FORT MEADE, Fla. -- Mary Skinner Hancock Gray, 79, of Fort Meade, Fla. died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Lakeland Florida Regional Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 1, 1922, in Berrien County to John and Rebecca Griner Akridge. Ms. Gray was a homemaker. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Webb of Athens, Frances Miley and Maxine Wilson, both of Fort Meade, Fla.; four sons, Bennie Skinner, J.P. Skinner, both of Adel, Lucious Skinner and Bryant Skinner, both of Fort Meade, Fla.; several grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Long Bridge Cemetery. Gayle Hester

STATENVILLE -- Gayle Hester, 57, died on Thursday, June 6, 2002, at her home in Statenville. Born in Echols County on Oct. 18, 1944, she was the daughter of Gladys Parrish and the late Louis Raulerson. Mrs. Hester taught school in Echols County for 30 years. She was a member of Statenville Baptist Church and chairman of the WMU. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Walter W. Hester of Statenville; sons and daughters-in-law, Parrish and Melba Hester of Statenville, Nat and Angie Hester of Larado, Texas, Thomas W. Hester of Statenville; grandchildren, AnnElise Hester and Alyssa Hester, both of Statenville, Caitlin Hester of Larado, Texas; mother, Gladys Raulerson of Haylow; brothers and sister-in-law, Kelly Raulerson of Albany, Tommy and Margie Raulerson of Waycross. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Wayne Boykin will officiate. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Mrs. Hester will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time on Sunday. Josephine D. Hewitt

JASPER, Fla. Josephine D. Hewitt, 86, of Jasper, Fla. passed away Friday, June 7, 2002, at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper. The Hamilton County native and lifelong resident was a retired secretary with the Hamilton County School system and was a member of Jasper First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one sister, Robbie Platt of Wachula, Fla. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2002, at Jasper First United Methodist Church. -- Harry T. Gladys Tyler Parker

HAHIRA -- Gladys Tyler Parker, 84, of Hahira died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on March 19, 1918, in Lowndes County to the late Allen T. and Martha Bostick Tyler. Mrs. Parker was an active member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Nancy Parker of Valdosta; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, David and Joni Parker of Valdosta, Tim and Julia Parker of Ila; five great- grandchildren, Holli Parker, Jeremy Parker, Rachel Parker, Daniel Parker and Riley Parker; one sister- and brother-in-law, Myrlee and Buran Redding of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Parker, Sr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethany Baptist Church with burial to follow in Bethany Cemetery. BARRETTS -- Annie Mae Kent (Mrs. Chester) Register of Barretts, passed away in South Georgia Medical Center on Thursday, June 6, 2002, at the age of 84. She was born on Sept. 3, 1917, in Berrien County and had lived in Lanier County most of her life. She was a member of Knights Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Register and a brother R.D. Kent.
