Bobbie Jo Baker

HOMERVILLE -- Bobbie Jo Baker, 26, passed away Saturday morning at the Clinch Memorial Hospital following an auto accident. A native of Tift County, she had lived in Clinch County most of her life. Survivors are her mother, Shirley Prescott Sweat of Homerville; two uncles, Ray Prescott of Argyle and Roger Prescott of Homerville; and several other relatives. Funeral services for Ms. Baker will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Ramah Cemetery near Homerville. Ms. Baker will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today and at other times will be at the home of Raymond Prescott, 75 Jane St., Homerville. Aline Dowling Campbell

VALDOSTA -- Aline Dowling Campbell, 83, of Valdosta, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 7, 1918, in Hamilton County, Fla., to the late James Alfred and Gertrude Lavonia Jones Dowling and had lived in Valdosta most of her life. Mrs. Campbell was a Christian and a member of the Woodmen of the World. She was retired as assistant manager of W. T. Grant Co. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her husband, Neal C. Campbell, and survived by several nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Montine Abildgarrd of Valdosta. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 26 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Scarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Billy F. Fender

HAHIRA -- Billy F. Fender, 54, of Hahira, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Brooks County and had lived in Lowndes County all of his life. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the IBEW local 511. He was preceded in death by his father, Coston Fender, and a brother, Carroll Fender. Survivors include his wife, Mavis Fender of Hahira; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Todd Owens of Valdosta, and Melinda and Chris Smith of Atlanta; one granddaughter, Heather Owens of Valdosta; his mother, Ruby Fender of Valdosta; one sister, Margie Adcock of Monroe; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Patricia Fender of Valdosta, and Ronnie and Pat Fender of Valdosta; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Opal and Ernest Mullis of Stockton, Hazel and Wilbur Ellis of Barney, Dena and Cleo Arnold of Homerville, Bo and Lori Bennett of Lakeland, James and Carol Kelly of Savannah, and Martha Fender of Walterborough, S.C.; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 26 in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in the Long Bridge Cemetery in Berrien County. Cynthia B. Tillman

AUGUSTA -- Cynthia Bennett Oliver Tillman, 78, beloved wife of the late Paul E. Tillman, entered into rest on Aug. 23, 2002, at her residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday Aug. 26 at Curtis Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Harris, the Rev. Sherrell Dunn and the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Tillman will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia T. Bennett and Martha T. Panzella and Ben Panzella; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Lamar and Betty Tillman and Richard A. and Janice Tillman, all of Augusta; five brothers, Robert D. Bennett of Valdosta, Lovett Bennett Sr. of Statesboro, Donnie L. Bennett of Sylvania, Bill S. Bennett and Chesley Bennett, both of Augusta; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer M. Mrs. Tillman was a 1943 graduate of Sylvania High School, a member of Curtis Baptist Church, also a former member of the Gracewood Baptist Church, and was director of WMU of Gracewood Baptist Church.
