Martha Geraldine Blythe McClung

Martha Geraldine Blythe McClung, 50, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, in Valdosta. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at the New Testament Christian Center in Madison, Fla. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Cemetery in Cecil. There will be a 1 p.m. viewing at the Cecil Baptist Church prior to burial.

McClung was a native of Waycross and had lived most of her life in Cecil and Valdosta. She had lived in Madison for the last four years. She was a social service worker for the State of Georgia and had worked in nursing homes in Georgia as a social worker. She was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Valdosta and attended the New Testament Christian Center in Madison, Fla.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph "Jody" McClung; one daughter, Melinda Elizabeth McClung; one brother, Edward James Blythe III; her father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McClung, all of Madison, Fla. -- Beggs Funeral Home



Mr. J.C. Thomas Jr.

Mr. J.C. Thomas, Jr. 87, of Adel, passed away at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta Sunday after a short illness.

Thomas was the son of the late John Colquitt Thomas Sr. and the late Sarah Gunn Thomas. He was born Sept. 5, 1915, and lived in Cook County all his life. He was the owner and operator of the Adel Milling Company for 40 years, a farmer, and a lieutenant in the United States Navy in World War II in the South Pacific. He was interested in the progress of Cook County, being a member of several civic organizations, including the roundtable.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Tygart Clyatt Thomas of Adel; three sons and daughters-in-law, John C. Thomas III and Toots Thomas of Tallahassee, Fla., Dr. Bill and Anne Thomas of Valdosta, Tom W. Thomas, Sr. and Liz Thomas of Adel; several stepchildren, Bob Clyatt and Melissa Clyatt, both of Valdosta, and Terry Presley and Sam Presley of Valdosta; several grandchildren, John Thomas IV and Cindy of Tallahassee, Fla., Bill and Allison Thomas of Tallahassee, Fla., Tom Thomas, Jr. and Constance Thomas of Adel, Jason and Shannon Thomas of Morrow, Glenn T. and Scott Ferrell of Savannah, Suzanne Thomas and David Withers of Charleston, S.C. Christy Clyatt, Cari Clyatt, Griffin Clyatt and Madelyn Clyatt, Tina Presley, Richie Presley, Robert Presley and Jill Presley; several great-grandchildren, Anna Thomas of Tallahassee, Fla., John "Jack" C. Thomas V, of Tallahassee, Fla., Grace Thomas of Adel, Tom Thomas III of Adel, John Thomas of Adel, Lillie Ferrell of Savannah, Frank Ferrell of Savannah, Tygart Robert, Clayton Robert and Emily Robert. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lillian Butler Thomas, and one grandson, William Jefferson Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Adel, with Dr. Mike Ruffin officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn City Cemetery. Visitation will occur from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Boone Lipsey Funeral Home at 202 N. Hutchinson Avenue in Adel. Lynda Mae Griffin

Mrs. Lynda Mae Griffin, 54, Lenox, died after a short illness Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the West Central Avenue Church of God. Interment will follow at the Lenox City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home on Highway 41 South. -- Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home.



Lena Rutland

Mrs. Lena Rutland, 80, of Lenox, died after a lengthy illness Saturday, March 1, 2003 at her residence. Funeral services will held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home on Highway 41 South. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to the Lakeview Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 509 Lenox, Ga 316
