Clarence Burgman Sr.

Mr. Clarence Burgman Sr., age 74, who resided at 4121 Hayes Road, passed away June 20, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Burgman was born May 14, 1928, in Valdosta, Ga., to the late Collie Burgman and the late Viola Jones Burgman. He attended the public schools in Lowndes County. He was a member of the Good Hope Christian Church. He was employed at Langdale Lumber for 34 years. He was well known and liked by everyone he encountered and will be missed in the community. He is proceeded in death one brother, Verney Burgman Sr., and one sister, Elizabeth Howell. He leaves to mourn his passing: wife, Rosie Lee; one son, Clarence Jr. (Sarah) of Valdosta and one daughter, Dorothy Lynn of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four sisters, Arena Woods of Valdosta, Avenell Belcher of Lakeland, Louella (Alphonzo) Simons of Naylor and Vernell Foster of Barretts; two sisters-in-law, Kelly Burgman of Valdosta and Alene Boone of Orlando, Fla.; one special cousin, Nathaniel (Sadie) Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.; one special friend, Carrie Lou Graham of Valdosta; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on June 30, 2002, at Good Hope Christian Church, at 1 p.m. Pastor Bishop L.B. Daniels and Minister Robert Daniels will officiate. Interment will be at the Antioch Cemetery in Lowndes County. Stevens Funeral Home of Valdosta is handling professional arrangements.

Annie Pearl Wiseman Floyd

Annie Pearl Wiseman Floyd, age 58, who resided at 202 Chester St., departed this life on June 24, 2002, at her home. Ms. Floyd was born Jan. 10, 1944, in Valdosta, Ga., to Mrs. Ethel Mae Wiseman and the late Willie Wiseman. She attended school in the Lowndes County School System. She was always known to be easygoing and friendly by everyone who came in contact with her. She leaves to mourn her passing her mother, Ethel Mae Wiseman; four daughters, Barbara Jean (Michael) Williams, Lossie Mae Burkes, Ellen Ann Burkes, and Willie Pearl (Julian) Fifie; four brothers, Willie Frank Wiseman, Sam (Ruth) Wiseman, Willie Lee (Mary) Wiseman, and Bobby (Anissa) Wiseman; two sisters, Mary Wiseman and Geraldine Frederick; 10 grandchildren, Cedric Nelson, Devin Nelson, Shantana Burkes, Devonshae Nelson, Cierra Burkes, Alexis Burkes, Kimberly Burkes, Gladys Fifie, James Burkes and Bradon Fifie; one great-grandchild, Alexis Baker; a special and devoted friend, Mr. Samuel White; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church, 761 S. Troup St., at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002. Pastor William C. Morgan will officiate. Elsie Lee Rowe Gaston

DALLAS, Texas -- Elsie Lee Rowe Gaston, 87, a retired administrator of Fireside Lodge for 27 years, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at a Dallas hospital. Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Second service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cranfills Gap United Methodist Church, where she was a former member. Burial will be held in Boggy Cemetery in Bosque County, Texas. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. this evening at Greenwood Funeral Home. Mrs. Gaston was the wife of the late rancher, R.H. "Short" Gaston, owner of Western Ridge Stables. Mr. and Mrs. Gaston resided on their ranch west of Fort Worth, Texas where they raised horses and cattle. She was an advocate of the elderly, working tirelessly on their behalf. A lifelong Methodist, Mrs. Gaston was a charter member of Western Hills United Methodist Church and was active in church work. Mrs. Gaston was one of four children born in Walnut Springs, Texas, on July 22, 1914, to Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Rowe who were pioneers in Central Texas. She was a graduate of Clifton College which later became Texas Lutheran College. She moved with her family to Fort Worth in 1951 where she remained in retirement. s, becoming a second mother to them. She was a positive influence to countless others. Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Laverne Jones of Stephenville, Texas; sons, John W. Gaston of Dallas, Texas and Dr. Joseph H. Gaston of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, William C. Blanton of Dallas, Tyler M. Freddie 'Bro' Mitchell

Mr. Freddie "Bro" Mitchell, 59, 807 South Fry Street Apt. 182, passed away June 20, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Freddie "Bro" was born April 6, 1943, in Valdosta to the late Mr. Ralph Mitchell and Della Mitchell. He attended school in the Valdosta school system and graduated from Westside High School. He repented of his sins and accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1999. He joined Triedstone Holiness Churcch on April 2, 2000, under the leadership of Elder Robert Taylor, where he attended faithfully until his health failed. He worked as a painter for many years before retiring. He was well-known and liked by everyone he encountered. He will be missed in the community. He leaves to mourn his passing one son, Michael Eric Mitchell (Pamela Mitchell) of Valdosta; one daughter, Shavita Altrecia Davis (Anthony Davis) of Miami, Fla.; two devoted sisters, Pastor Mary Edwards of Miami, Fla., and Dorothy Askew, devoted brother-in-law (Aaron) of Valdosta; one adopted sister, Elder Shirley Ezell of Miami; three brothers, Booker T. Wade (Harriett) of Miami, Ralph Mitchell Jr. (Minnie) of Valdosta, Larry Mitchell of Valdosta; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Kevin, Shamia, Adriann, Makyra, Antoneisha; two devoted nieces, Chiquita and Adrian; two devoted friends, Roddy Vickers and Herbert Miles; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and sorrowing friends. Funeral services will be held at Triedstone Holiness Church Saturday, June 29, 2002, at 11 a.m. Elder Robert Taylor is the pastor and will officiate. Elizabeth Fant Greneker, of Valdosta, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2002, at the Lakehaven Nursing Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. -- Carson McLane Funeral Home

David Lee Raines, 49, of Valdosta passed this life on June 26, 2002, at the South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced later by Harrington Funeral Home.

Funeral services for the late Ms. Jessie Reynolds, "Pig", of Valdosta will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bethel AME Church in Quitman, with the Rev Richard Huewitt officiating.
