Charles Ray Glisson Sr.
Charles Ray Glisson Sr., 81, of Valdosta, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 22, 1925, in Pelham to the late Shafter and Mamie Pope Glisson and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Glisson was a veteran of United States Navy Armed Guard during World War II and had worked for many years at Strickland Cotton Mills and Owens-Illinois-Bag Plant. He attended Trinity Baptist Church and was a member of the former Pyle Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Glisson of Valdosta; two sons and daughters in law, Charles Jr. and Maria Glisson of Tifton, Bobby and Becky Glisson of Valdosta, two daughters and sons in law, Linda and John Beatie of Mineral Bluff, Beverly and Marty Broome of Valdosta; seven grandchildren, Ramsey Sumner, Christian Glisson, Cole Glisson, Candler Glisson, Devin Schaer, Sarah Broome and Derek Broome, two stepchildren and their spouses, Latrelle and Charles Kelly of Valdosta, Buddy and Carolyn Simpson of Valdosta, one sister, Betty Young of Tampa, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Young and Faye DeLoach.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Hardee officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Flora (Flo) McGuire
Flora (Flo) McGuire, 90, of Valdosta, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Langdale Place.
She was born on Aug. 12, 1916, in Taylor County, Fla., to the late Oliver and Ida Farnell, and had been a resident of Tampa, Fla., from 1940 – 2004, when she moved to Valdosta to be near her daughter. She worked as a secretary during World War II at MacDill Field and following that she worked for over 30 years for General Telephone Company in Tampa, Fla. During her retirement years, Mrs. McGuire enjoyed her years with the Senior Center and Ball Room Dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. E. McGuire and a son, Kenneth McGuire.
Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Eloise and Bill Jordan of Valdosta; a daughter-in-law, Linda McGuire of Tampa, Fla.; two grandsons, Kim Jordan of Phoenix and Richard McGuire of Tampa, Fla.; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Sharon and Gary Berglund; three great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

Anne ‘Mom’ Carlo
Anne ‘Mom’ Carlo, 100, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, in the Crestwood Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 19, 1906, to the late John and Nora (Lee) Bonnell. She was a member of the New Covenant Church and was active in prison ministry for 30 years. Mrs. Carlo gained her name ‘Mom’ by inmates she would visit through her prison ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Carlo.
Survivors include: nieces and nephews, Edward Carlo, Valdosta, Barbara Baldwin, Texas, Helen Carter, Valdosta, Veronica Mowls, Valdosta, Lillian Mickel, Nashville, Shirley Ann McKenzie, Valdosta, Lila Archambault, Valdosta, Fred Carlo Jr., Barney, Howard May, Jacksonville, Fla., Dolly Weatherington, Brunswick, Linda Garrison, Valdosta, Tommy Barr, Bruce Barr, Ricky Barr, all of Georgia; special family member, Lisa Tillman, Valdosta; special friend, Bobby Battles of Valdosta, and all of her church family
Graveside services will be held Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Sunset Hill Cemetery with Pastor Randy Stephen officiating. Elbert Daniels Jr.
Elbert Daniels Jr., 53, of Valdosta, departed this life on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where the Rev. Luther B.
