Nic Daugharty of Valdosta has qualified for the U.S. Mid-Amateur golf tournament this month.

The Mid-Amateur will be held Sept. 21-26 at The Stanwich Club at Greenwich, Conn.

Daugharty shot a 69 to win his qualifying tournament held at the Deerwood Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.

Daugharty was one shot better than John O'Brien of Jacksonville.

Five players shot a 71, including Valdosta's Sam Hogan. Two players won in a playoff to receive Mid-Amateur berths, with Hogan and the others chosen as alternates.

The event at Deerwood was one of 50 qualifying tournaments held across the country during August.
