VALDOSTA — A Moultrie man is in the Lowndes County Jail, accused of sex crimes against Lowndes County children, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Miguel “Mikey” Angel Lopez-Blasica, 21, of Moultrie, was charged June 6 with solicitation of sodomy, aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, obscene internet contact with a child, statutory rape and criminal attempt to entice a child for indecent purposes, the GBI said.
On Feb. 15, the Lake Park Police Department asked the GBI to investigate a man who had contacted a child in Lowndes County through social media and tried to meet the juvenile for sex, according to a GBI statement. The suspect had provided nude pictures and videos of himself to the child, the statement said.
Social media firms gave investigators records that helped identify the suspect, according to the GBI. As the records were reviewed, a second Lowndes County juvenile whom the suspect allegedly contacted online was identified, the statement said. The suspect met with this juvenile in Lowndes County several times, the GBI said.
The GBI was assisted by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.
After the second victim was identified, a meeting was arranged with the suspect at the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office, where he was interviewed and later served with six arrest warrants out of Lowndes County, according to the statement.
He was transferred to the Lowndes County Jail.
Agents are continuing to interview witnesses and collect evidence related to this incident. Anyone with information is urged to call the GBI's Thomasville office at 229-225-4090.
