VALDOSTA -- A 23-year-old man, arrested by the Valdosta Police Department Monday, faces three charges following a weekend domestic dispute that led to violence.

Cedric Hudson is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery under the Family Violence Act, said Lt. Brian Childress, public information officer for the VPD. The first two charges are felonies, he said.

The incident began at about 5:56 p.m. Saturday when Hudson saw his wife riding in a vehicle with a man on Bemiss Road, Childress said. Hudson followed the pair to a service station at Northside Drive, where he assaulted his wife and pulled a knife on the man, Childress said. The woman was forced into Hudson's vehicle, left the area and dropped her off a short time later, he said.

Childress said Hudson's wife received minor injuries, and the 34-year-old man was not injured. Warrants were obtained for Hudson's arrest Monday by a VPD detective, and officers with VPD Bureau of Investigative Services made the arrest.
