LAKELAND -- Members of Future Business Leaders of America chapters from 17 school systems recently participated in the Region II Conference held at Okefenokee Technical College.

Eleven students from Lanier County High School attended the conference, placing in all but three events. Walter Williams won first place in Accounting. Celia Strickland placed first in Business Communications. Ashlee Wright placed third in Public Speaking 1. Ambur Wilcox placed fourth in Public Speaking 2. Laura Register and Jessica Porter placed fourth in the Desktop Publishing team event. Zennifer Brown placed fourth and Daysha Barnes placed fifth in Cooperative Business Education Student of the Year. Other members attending were Kayla Downs, Ryan Yancey and Karen McCulloch.

The FBLA State Leadership Conference will be held March 12-13 in Athens where the first through fifth place winners from the regional competition will compete for state awards. The FBLA advisers at Lanier County High School are Susan Schools and Milton Gloster.
