Authorities continued searching for suspects Monday evening connected to a stolen dump truck involved in a chase with law-enforcement.
At approximately 8 a.m. Monday, Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies attempted stopping the dump truck as it traveled south along Interstate 75, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. The truck refused to stop for deputies, who later discovered the dump truck was reportedly stolen from a Macon
After exiting I-75 Exit 22, the truck stopped and the driver and passenger fled on foot into nearby woods. Sheriff’s deputies combed the area with K-9 units. Overhead, a Georgia State Patrol helicopter crisscrossed the region, but the two men were not located.
They are described as two white males, both wearing yellow shirts. One man wore khaki shorts and the other wore black shorts. No further descriptions nor indication as to identity were available Monday evening.
With the search continuing, Lowndes County Sheriff’s Lt. Stryde Jones advised residents in the Shiloh Road area of north Lowndes County to “remain alert of their surroundings. Anyone who observes suspicious persons or someone not known to the neighborhood is urged to call 911 immediately.”
