VALDOSTA — Author Ted Geltner signs and discusses his latest book, “Blood, Bone and Marrow: A Biography of Harry Crews,” 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, Book & Table, Downtown Valdosta.

The Valdosta State University journalism professor, has received critical praise for his Crews biography.

“It was cool,” Geltner said of writing the book in an interview earlier this year with The Valdosta Daily Times. “Crews is always interesting. He’s a great figure in literature.”

The book documents the late Crews, a writer, from growing up in Alma, to teaching creative writing at his alma mater, the University of Florida.

He was highly regarded for his literature, and well known for his “intriguing” personality, Geltner said.

Crews had 22 books published from 1968-2006.

Book & Table, a book store and restaurant, hosts several book events featuring area authors.
