NASHVILLE — Berrien County plans to Shop Small this holiday season.
Shop Small is a nationwide movement to celebrate small businesses every day and to help communities thrive.
Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is the cornerstone of American Express Shop Small efforts. Shop Small Saturday is Nov. 26 which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
“While Small Business Saturday is highlighted as a special day when we can show our support for small business owners and our community, the Berrien Chamber encourages local shopping year-round through its Buy Berrien campaign,” said Bo Lovein, chairman of the Berrien County Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
Many Berrien County businesses will be open Saturday, Nov. 26, he said.
The chamber and Nashville Main Street are partnering to offer an incentive for Shop Small Saturday shoppers in Berrien County, according to a chamber press release.
Shoppers keeping their Nov. 26 purchase receipts can bring them to Nashville City Hall or the Berrien County Chamber of Commerce by noon, Nov. 30 to be entered into a drawing for $100 in Berrien Bucks, according to the chamber. Five Shop Small Saturday Shoppers will be chosen. The receipt can be from any Berrien County business and must be dated Nov. 26, 2016.
"Small business is the backbone of local communities," according to the chamber press release. "It is important to support local businesses during the holiday shopping season and throughout the year. Shop Small in Berrien County on Nov. 26."
