When December begins, the holiday spirit inspires many to review their resources to see what help they can supply to others in need. Back in 1993, representatives at Jameson Inns did just that and found that they could give rooms to help families visiting hospital patients during the holidays.

When the Valdosta Jameson Inn opened in 1995, it began the tradition locally. Over the past 10 years the company has been able to help countless families affected by tragedy during what should be a time of joy.

The tradition continues this year through Dec. 30. Families referred by a hospital administrator receive one night of lodging at the Jameson Inn free and five subsequent nights for 50 percent off the current best rate.

A complimentary room and discounts help families focus on their loved ones instead of the financial burden incurred visiting from out-of-town.

This is Jameson Inn’s way of giving back to the community during the holiday season.

“Having a loved one in the hospital is never easy, but it can be very challenging when the hospital is in a different city, especially during the holidays,” Tyrone O’Steen, general manager of the Jameson Inn-Valdosta, said. “We’re delighted to work with local hospitals to ease some of the burden.”

Guests who wish to take advantage of this program should contact the hospital in which their loved one is staying in order to receive a referral. Free rooms are limited to one per patient, but if a patient’s loved ones need more than one room, the 50 percent discount still applies.

The Jameson Inn-Valdosta is located at 1725 Gornto Road. For information, call the hotel at (229) 253-0009.
