VALDOSTA -- The tremendous success of the South Georgia Woman's Show in August allowed the Valdosta Board of Realtors to present $16,000 in donations Thursday at its board luncheon.

Hospice of South Georgia, the Children's Advocacy Center and Second Harvest Kids Cafe each received checks for $4,000, with the Moody Air Force Base Thanksgiving program receiving $3,800 and the Valdosta Theatre Guild receiving $200.

Realtor Sandra Danowski chaired the Woman's Show event committee, and stated, "Without the help of the Community Service Committee, along with help from the Mortgage Bankers Association and all the great advertising from The Valdosta Daily Times and vendors' support, this could not have been so successful. Our special thanks to all the committee members, Realtors, and general public who helped us raise the money for the local charities. All media coverage was way more than we expected, and we are all so pleased at the results."

"Freedom for Everyone" was the theme of the 2005 South Georgia Woman's Show, held at Mathis Auditorium on Aug. 27 and 28.

An annual community service project of the Valdosta Board of Realtors, the show has raised more than $50,000 for local charitable organizations in the past four years.
