    Valdosta Miracle League hosts its first home run derby on Saturday at Billy Grant Complex, Valdosta State University Baseball Complex. All of the event’s proceeds will help build a special synthetic rubber baseball field out at Freedom Park.

    The Georgia Dugout Club (State’s Baseball Coaches’ Association) is set to once again host the Georgia Underclassman Top 100 Showcase throughout Georgia during the month of June. The showcase will make its way to Valdosta on June 9 to be held at Valdosta State University from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.

    The annual “Pigskin Preview” took place Tuesday at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, featuring 18 college football programs from the state of Georgia. University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern and Valdosta State were a few of the schools in attendance. The event featured the head coaches of each college, along with a couple of players from each school as well.

    In a city with a rich sports tradition the Valdosta State Club Rugby team badly wants to make a name for itself in TitleTown — on Saturday morning in Aston, Penn., the Blazers' burning desire was on display. VSU cruised to a 3-0 record in pool play of the National Small College Rugby 7s National Tournament with a combined score of 85-17 to secure a spot in today's semifinals.

    The Georgia Batmen 13U baseball team made the most out of their trip to Walt Disney World from May 23-26 by competing in — and winning — the Sun & Surf Baseball Bash at the ESPN Wide World of Sports with a 5-0 record on the weekend en route to the tournament title.

    Beginning Tuesday, David Dean, the head coach of the Valdosta State Blazer football team, and other members of his staff came together to host the annual "David Dean Youth Camp.” The general idea of the camp has been around since 2002 and allows younger children to get hands-on fundamentals about football in addition to meeting some of their favorite Blazers.
