     The high school football season may still be two months away, but that didn’t stop Brooks County and Lowndes from taking advantage of an opportunity to get better Wednesday morning.

    Working together in a 7-on-7 passing league at Martin Stadium, both the Trojans and Vikings got the chance to test themselves against a talented opponent.

    Valdosta Miracle League hosts its first home run derby on Saturday at Billy Grant Complex, Valdosta State University Baseball Complex. All of the event’s proceeds will help build a special synthetic rubber baseball field out at Freedom Park.

    The Georgia Dugout Club (State’s Baseball Coaches’ Association) is set to once again host the Georgia Underclassman Top 100 Showcase throughout Georgia during the month of June. The showcase will make its way to Valdosta on June 9 to be held at Valdosta State University from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.

    The annual “Pigskin Preview” took place Tuesday at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, featuring 18 college football programs from the state of Georgia. University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern and Valdosta State were a few of the schools in attendance. The event featured the head coaches of each college, along with a couple of players from each school as well.
