Georgia Sparks host tryouts

VALDOSTA — The Georgia Sparks will be hosting Fall tryouts and open-play for any and all girl basketball players on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.

Players will be trying out for the 7th grade team, 8th grade team, or 9th/10th grade team, tryouts will be held in Fitzgerald, Ga. at Monitor Gym. Tryouts are free, with the only requirement to arrive there 30 minutes early.

The Sparks are preparing for their final Fall College Exposure event in Atlanta in September.

This will be a great opportunity for young players to be seen by several college coaches and scouts.

The even also exposes the girls to what the season will consist of next year.

“This season has by far been the most productive season in our 13 years because of such wonderful attitudes, hard work and diligence from players and parents,” said Sparks head coach Rick Jones. “We are only as good as our players and they are the best!”

The Georgia Sparks participated in a total of six Division I exposure events this season, along with several highly competitive tournaments which include: The Florida Girls Basketball Showcase in Lakeland Fla., the Premiere Spring Classic in Greensboro, N.C.,               the Music City Mayhem in Franklin, Tenn., and many more.

Several players this season have not only have received letters from several colleges, but four players have received several offers from colleges such as Florida State, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia Southern, North Carolina A&T, and Virginia Commonwealth just to name a few.

If your child would like to play for the Georgia Sparks next season please call or e-mail coach Rick Jones at 229-425-3499 or email:brotherrick@windstream.net.
