Brooks QB Lands on Rivals Top 100

QUITMAN — Each year, Rivals.com releases the Top 100 high school football recruits coming into the season. The list is comprised of 100 players from across the United States. These players are considered the best at their positions and are deemed top college prospects and signees.

This year, one of South Georgia’s own gems makes the list.

Brooks County Trojans quarterback Malkom Parrish holds one out of two spots held by South Georgia players. The second player comes in at the number 96 spot on the list, and is Thomas County Central running back Adam Choice.

Parrish, a 5-foot-9-inch, 190-pound senior, ranks number 78 on the Rivals.com ranking list.

Malkom Parrish committed to the University of Georgia in June after turning down a scholarship from UGA's rival, Georgia Tech, to play quarterback.

At UGA, Parrish will be asked to play cornerback, including some time at nickel his freshman season.

“Malkom is a treat to coach. He absorbs everything you try to teach him,” said Brooks County Trojans Head Coach Maurice Freeman. “He has a gift from God."

Parrish is the high school team's starting quarterback; however, he will be a defensive player in college. He played safety last year for the Trojans and will continue to play some safety in his final year with the team.

The Trojans will also call on Parrish some this season at the cornerback spot, a position he will learn very well at the next level for UGA.

“He is exceptional at the safety spot,” said Coach Freeman. “Malkom has great, fast, twitch muscles, and he is extremely strong from head to toe."

Freeman speaks highly of his star player and has faith in Parrish to succeed at the next level.

“Malkom is lean, mean and loves contact, perfect for a defensive player. He is a leader and he out works everyone else on the field," said Freeman.
