Brooks Co. dominates Cook on the road

ADEL — The Cook County Hornets fell to the Brooks County Trojans Friday night with the final score 38-10. Cook fought hard all night but could not stop the run or the explosive plays.

The Trojans led 25-3 at the end of the first half and carried the momentum with them into the start of the second half. They received first and although they could not turn that first possession into points, they held Cook’s offense from closing the gap.

One of the Trojans scores of the second half came on a twenty two yard run by Malkom Perrish.

The Hornets had no answer for Perrish all night as he gashed them play after play. The Trojans second and final score of the half came in the form of a one yard run again by Perrish.

Cook could not get anything going offensively in this game. The Trojans held them to one hundred and twenty seven yards in the second half.

Fifty-four of those yards came on the Hornets last drive that resulted in their only touchdown on the night.

Connor Hilliard was efficient when he was called to throw the ball completing five of six passes in the second half for a total of fifty six yards.

Chances are you are going to have to throw the ball more than six times when your team is entering the second half down by twenty two, but the Hornets refused to abandon the run game.

The play of the game came on a third and nineteen for the Trojans. They were backed up inside their own 20.

Perrish scrambles out of the pocket on a broken play and just when you think he is going to throw it away, he throws a laser deep down the field to Nick Vick. Vick jumps up and makes a beautiful catch and maintains possession through a big hit for a forty seven yard gain.

Three plays later set up Perrish’s one yard touchdown run.

The Cook County Hornets are going to look to rebound next week against the Berrien County Rebels.
