The Lowndes High Vikettes played two games in the Vikette Invitational this weekend going 2-0 against Schley County and Tatnall County.
In the first game of the day the Vikettes clobbered Schley County by a score of 8-0 behind the superb pitching of starter Crystal Eason and the loud bats of her teammates.
Eason pitched five shutout innings against Schley County in an outing which she only allowed four runners to reach base.
With Eason keeping the Schley County bats quiet all afternoon, Wendy Palmer, Kira Irvin, and Haley Fowler provided some offense for the Vikettes.
Palmer collected three hits in her four at-bats and scoring two runs on the afternoon.
Irvin had a hit of her own, a double, which plater two runs.
Fowler, who has been excellent on the mound this season, flashed her bat with a big homerun.
After the big victory against Schley County, things got a lot closer in the Vikettes’ next game against Tatnall County.
Eason was once again solid on the mound, pitching four innings of one-run ball against Tatnall County before giving way to Fowler who displayed her pitching abilities by allowing one hit in three innings.
Palmer was a big factor in the Vikettes’ offense for the second consecutive game, collecting two more hits and runs scored.
Madison Floyd also had a good game at the plate, she went 2-4 with two RBI as the Vikettes came away with the 4-3 victory.
The Vikettes wish to extend a special thanks to the VLRD for all of their hospitality and help in making the 11th Annual Vikette Invitational a great success.
Seventeen teams attended from all over the state of Georgia to compete at Freedom Park.
