Ga-Fla Challenge

VALDOSTA — The Georgia-Florida Challenge, hosted by Lowndes High School, kicks off tonight and continues Saturday. The baseball tournament will include nine teams from the bordering states. The various games will be played at both Lowndes and Valdosta High, with a doubleheader today at each, in addition to a tripleheader on Saturday at Lowndes.

“We have nine quality baseball teams. I believe they’re some of the best teams from Georgia and Florida. If you want to see some good baseball teams play, then you have to be here,” said Lowndes coach Danny Redshaw.

The tournament includes local teams Valdosta and Lowndes, in addition to Colquitt County, Houston County and Columbus High, representing Georgia.

The Florida teams include Pace, Clay, Ponte Vedra and Florida Christian of Miami.

The home teams will be decided by a coin toss, unless one of the teams are Lowndes or Valdosta.

The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
