VALDOSTA — Blazer Baseball Winter postponed due to weather conditions

Valdosta State Baseball had to make the difficult decision to postpone its  camps until next weekend  due to the inclement weather forecast for this weekend.

Pitcher/Catcher Camp: $50

Friday, Dec. 20

Grades 4 - 8:

1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

 Hitting Camp: $40

Saturday, Dec. 21

Grades 1 - 5: 

9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Grades 6-8: 

1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Valwood JV defeats

Westwood Wildcats 38-10

The Valwood Valiant Jr. Varsity boys basketball team defeated The Westwood Wildcats Jr. Varsity 38-10 on Thursday night at the Eager Sprorts Center.

Grant McLendon led the Valiants in scoring with game high eight points.

Sam Martin, William Pegg, Cole McLendon, Rajaez Mosely, Pavan Patel and Griffen Schmidt added four points each. 

Jaakob Alakulpi, William Stark and Avi Patel rounded out the scoring with 2 points each. 

With the win, Valwood moves to 3-0 on the season and will host Citizens Christian Academy on Jan. 7 at 5 p.m.

Division II championship game

leaving Alabama

FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) — The Division II football championship game is leaving Alabama after 28 years.

The NCAA announced Wednesday that the game will move to Kansas City, Kan., starting next season.

Florence has hosted the championship game since 1985 with the last set for Dec. 21.

It is the second-longest continuous period for any NCAA championship venue, behind the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Kansas City will host the games from 2014-17.

The championship had been played in five different locations under four bowl names in its first 13 years.

It was renamed the NCAA Division II Football Championship Game when Florence won the bidding to host.
